I’ve been so incredibly busy I haven’t had time for Tumblr, but hopefully I’m back to stay!
Whole30 update: gave it up about 20 days into it. Why? I like butter. And cheese. It’s definitely something I’ll be trying again this year, though.
Fitness update: I’m now averaging 25 miles per week running, plus lifting almost every night at home. I have nearly achieved my summer goal weight and I wear my running clothes around town now without embarrassment-no worries about cellulite or belly fat:-)
Diet update: Staying on a high-fat, moderate carb and protein diet focused on traditional an raw foods. These include cultured local pastured butter, fresh berries and apples, bone marrow, stocks, fresh vegetable juices, grassfed muscle and organ meats and enormous fresh salads. Some sprouted gluten-free grains like quinoa and millet are also included.
Personal update: My fiancee is pregnant and I can’t wait to be a mommy/daddy. It took 8 months of trying to conceive but we finally got it! He/she is already a very active 9 week old fetus as we’ve seen from the ultrasound. Perfect size, perfect heartbeat.
I got stuck with a bunch of pork loin cutlets this week because they were on sale. Lucky me-who knew they were so easy and convenient?!
This has been my breakfast for the last few days, simply seared, or rubbed first with a good Dijon or spiced whole grain mustard. The mustard flavor changes as it cooks into something savory and wonderful.
This is my new favorite dinner. It’s called oeuvres en cocotte(eggs in ramekin) and it’s made by cracking eggs into a dish with oil, butter or cream and slowly baking them in a hot water bath until they turn creamy and gelatinous like a custard. I shave frozen homemade hot&sweet roasted pepper paste into it and top with scallions and Spanish anchovies. The fish just melts into creamy nothingness.
Stomach=definitely flatter.
I haven’t been able to work out more than a 2-mile distance of walk/runs every day for almost a whole week, I got whatever bug was going around work and it zapped my energy. Thankfully I didn’t get really sick like everyone else who had it. Just shaky and achey.
Chicken-in-Dutch-oven-meal #2 was a success!
This one was more simple.
Mustard and Nigella seeds, curry powder, cinnamon, garlic, onion, carrot, cauliflower, anaheim chiles, cilantro, tomato paste, and chicken legs. That’s breakfast, lunch and dinner for a day or two.
FIRST EVER BLOGILATES CHALLENGE! Your goal this week is to toss/donate 5 things that you haven’t used or thought about in the last year. Studies show that people who have cluttered spaces also tend to hold extra weight. Your space is a reflection of you. After you throw away your things, post to tumblr what they were and why you didn’t need them.
Now tell me, what 5 things will go bye bye this week?
Yesterday I organized and cleaned out my bins and baskets around the house. Today I am attacking my closet and breaking out the clear plastic bins for the garage. Spring cleaning is coming early this year!
